										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h2>A Set of 4 Body Movements to Deal with Constipation</h2>
<p>The following is a wonderful simple to perform set of body movements that helps to facilitate a bowel movement when things don&#8217;t move too well on their own. This set is normally used while performing a yogic kriya (cleanse) technique called <em>Shanka Prakshalana</em>, to move the water out through the intestines, but it works really well for moving the feces through the &#8220;plumbing&#8221; and out of your system just as well. It also could help with bloating, when the gas doesn&#8217;t come out, but be gentle using it in this condition so not to cause any additional pain.</p>
<p align="justify"><strong>The set of movements</strong></p>
<p align="justify">Perform the following sequence of movements. Each movement should be repeated quickly alternating at least four times on each side (therefore four double movements).<span id="more-342"></span></p>
<p align="justify"><strong>1. The first movement</strong>. Stand with soles 30 cm apart, fingers inter?locked with palms upward, and back straight. Without twisting the trunk, lean to the left and then to the right without any break. These movements open the stomach, and after each bend some of the digested food leaves the stomach toward the intestines.</p>

<p align="justify"><strong>2. The second movement</strong>. Stand with soles 30 cm. apart. Stretch the right arm laterally (i.e. horizontally), and bend the left arm, so that the thumb and index touch the right collar bone; the left elbow is at the height of the shoulder. Then twist the trunk toward the right, pointing the out stretched arm backward, as far as possible. The gaze must follow the tips of the fingers. Do not stop at the end of the movement, but swiftly re?turn to the start?ing position, and then perform the movement on the opposite side. This move?ment pushes the unwanted matter forward in the intestine.</p>

<p align="justify"><strong>3. The third move?ment</strong>. Perform a variation of the Cobra pose (<em>B</em>hujangasa?na), in which only the toes and the fingers touch the ground. The soles must be 30 cm apart. Then twist the shoulders and the head until it becomes possible to gaze at the opposite heel (over the shoulder). Do not stop, but swiftly return and continue on the opposite side. This movement pushes the feces further through the small intestine, so that now it reaches the large one.</p>

<p align="justify"><strong>4. The fourth movement</strong>. The feces will be con?ducted through the large intestine until the end, due to this last move?ment. Crouch with your soles 30 cm apart. Place the hands on the knees, which are about 50 cm apart. Next, twist the trunk toward the right, so as to place the left knee on the ground besides the right foot. The hands push the right thigh toward the left, and the left thigh towards the right. Also spin the head in the same direction, so that you gaze backward. Then, without stopping, return, and continue on the opposite side, symmetrically. Of all four, this is the only movement in which the side on which one begins is important. Therefore one should always begin by placing the left knee on the ground. Also, of all four this is the only one which has a variation for those with stiff knees.</p>

If you find you can&#8217;t perform the fourth movement as described, here is an easier variation of it. Sit on the floor with legs stretched out forward together. Bend the right leg and place its sole on the ground, beside the left knee. Twist the trunk toward the right, grasping the right toes with the left hand, and gaze backwards (see picture). Return swiftly, and continue symmetrically.</p>

<p>You may want to repeat this set several times if you see things are on the move but you have not yet been fully evacuated.</p>

<h2>The Importance of Squatting While Evacuating</h2>
<p>While western-style toilets are comfortable to sit on they aren&#8217;t the most conducive for evacuating due to the unnatural angle they put your body in. While squatting your &#8220;plumbing&#8221; gets aligned and opened properly for easy elimination. When sitting on the western toilet your colon gets partially pinched and therefore if you have a tendency for constipation things don&#8217;t go too well in this setup.<a href="https://alternativefelix.com/healing/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/squatting-toilet-stool.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class=" size-full wp-image-346 alignright" src="https://alternativefelix.com/healing/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/squatting-toilet-stool.jpg" alt="squatting-toilet-stool" width="200" height="200" srcset="https://alternativefelix.com/healing/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/squatting-toilet-stool.jpg 200w, https://alternativefelix.com/healing/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/squatting-toilet-stool-150x150.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px" /></a></p>
<p id="title">Finding a squat-toilet would be very difficult in the west, and most westerners dislike those anyway, but have no fear as there is a workaround for that issue &#8211; all you need to do is to build or acquire a little squat-stool so that when you sit on the toilet you put your feet up, which emulates almost a perfect squatting position, while you still rest on the toilet sit with your knees up (see the illustration).<span id="productTitle"> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008G9B11E/?tag=theultimatlearna" rel="nofollow">Squatty Potty</a> is one of the more popular ones (I own one and it just works), but there are other similar products out there and have been on the market for quite a few years now. This would be the best $30+ ever invested for your wellbeing, especially so if constipation is your thing.<br />

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Constipation causes are multiple. The major ones are irregular diet, inactive way of life, side-effects of diseases or because of drugs taken to deal with those diseases, heredity, etc. There is much written about the causes.</p>
<p>What everyone wants to know is the best way to get rid of constipation. Most available solutions suggest taking one drug or another, some working better some worse. The main issue with any drugs is that your organism gets used to the chemicals and with time they become less and less effective. Increased dosage usually leads to new health issues.</p>
<p>In this article I&#8217;d like to suggest a very simple holistic solution that doesn&#8217;t involve medicine at all.</p>
<p><span id="more-115"></span></p>
<p>On figure 1 you can see a projection of the Large Intestine onto a palm of the left hand according to Su Jok theory in the basic corresponding system.<br />

On figure 2 we can see the direction of the fecal masses movement.<br />

<h3>Step 1</h3>
<p>Take a massage stick or any other suitable subject for example a ball pen without ink or simply use any finger of the right hand and find painful points on a projection of the Large Intestine (See figure 1). Carry out massage of these point in any way.</p>
<p>After that carry out massage of the Large Intestine in direction pointed on the figure 2. Massage can be done by hand or with a massage stick. Put a finger (or the stick) in the area of the beginning of the Large Intestines (cecum), then slightly press and move a finger (stick) in the direction shown in figure 2 up to an output from intestines (an area of a rectum). Return to the area of cecum and repeat the movement. Do that repeatedly for 3-5 minutes.</p>
<h3>Step 2</h3>
<p>In this step you are going to <a href="/healing/2008/07/how-to-use-moxa/">use Moxa</a> to heat up the area corresponding to your Large Intestine. Light up moxa and bring it close to the area corresponding to the large Intestine. Keep it at distance of about 1cm (?&#8221;) from the surface of the skin. Apply the heat moving Moxa along the Large Intestine path in the direction pointed on figure 2. Do this procedure till your skin gets slightly red (but be careful not burn your skin &#8211; if it&#8217;s too hot move Moxa away and then try again).</p>
<h3>Step 3</h3>
<p>Attach seeds of a watermelon, melon, apple or grapes using a band-aid or some other alternative as it can be seen on figure 3.</p>

<p>Pay close attention to the arrangement of the seeds. Leave those seeds in place for 24 hours. If water gets onto the seeds, simply replace them with new ones and use a new band-aid. Repeat this procedure three times during one week (.e.g. do it every second day).<br />
If you have a chronic constipation it&#8217;s highly recommended to address the cause of this condition, rather than the symptom. You can do that by paying a visit to a specialist.</p>
<p>I treated quite a few cases of a constipation so far. Here is one of them.</p>
<h3>Case History</h3>
<p>A 55-year old women had been suffering from constipation for 6 years. She told that since the childhood she had a propensity to a constipation but since the climacteric period her condition had sharply worsened. She had only 3-4 bowel movements a week and the stools were dry and dark. She had no bowel movement &#8220;desire&#8221;.</p>
<h3>Diagnosis</h3>
<p>According to Su Jok theory the patient had deficiency of Heat, Wind and Humidity energy and excess of Coldness and Dryness energy in the structure of the Large Intestine.<br />
Absence of desire to bowel movement pointed to deficiency of Wind energy, Dry and dark stool pointed to an excess of Coldness and Dryness energy.</p>
<h3>Treatment</h3>
<p>The aim of the treatment was to increase the Heat and Wind energy and to reduce Dryness energy in structure of Large Intestine ( figure 4 ).</p>

<p>An addition I made an acupuncture on projection of the Large Intestine on the palm in a direction corresponding to movement of fecal masses as shown on figure 5.</p>

<p>Even before the treatment was over the patient had an urge to have a bowel movement.</p>
